Are you mad?
This is the question I’ve been asked most often! It’s usually prefaced with “I don’t mean to sound rude” or “don’t take it the wrong way”.
I get it – when people call me they’re usually at their wits end and overwhelmed. The thought of dealing with their clutter makes them want to curl in a ball. That I would be excited at the prospect blows their minds.
However, once we’ve worked together they understand why I love what I do!
Why do you focus on decluttering?
I know that the key to having a home that works for you and not against you is to declutter – then get organised.
I also know that when it comes to downsizing and selling a house people underestimate the negative impact of clutter. The key to reducing the stress of downsizing and maximising your sale price is to declutter – then stage before you list.
Can you really declutter my home in one day?
Yes! But often the single day Revamp is meant to be a kick-start to get you going. I’ll be able to get a handle on your particular needs during the initial free phone consult.
What if I want to keep something - will you tell me I have to let it go?
The one thing I never do is tell someone they must let go of something! My role is to help you choose what to keep and what to let go of, and find a home for a cherished item.
Do you work weekends?
Yes! My service is focused on responding to people’s needs and people need help on the weekends as well as during the week!
In my experience, people often feel overwhelmed at the weekend when they’re confronted with their clutter and appreciate being able to contact someone. I’m available between 10.00-2.00 to take calls – unless I’m decluttering.
The second reason is that many people find weekend declutters work for them – either because they work full-time, need to make arrangements for someone to take care of their children so we can get cracking, or they have other commitments during the week.
Can you help me remove my clutter?
Yes! I call it a ‘takeaway service’ and it’s included in the price of your Revamp. I will take it away for you if it’ll fit in the back of my ute and it’s for donation or recycling.
What if the stuff isn't really mine to get rid of?
This one of the top questions I’m asked. Although we need to be respectful of what people own, in order to declutter your home we can’t ignore other people’s clutter. Ideally we want to bring everyone with us on the decluttering journey. What helps is the Revamp element, because when others see the end result they get inspired and excited.
What if I have a lot of stuff?
If you have a lot of stuff that can’t be handled in two days then don’t worry. The purpose of the initial consult is to identify where you’re at, and what it’s going to take to get you where you need to be. If we decide that the job needs more than two days then we can discuss custom packages.
Why don't you publish 'before' and 'after' pictures?
The short answer is – I respect the privacy of my clients and their feelings.
One for the biggest barriers in people asking for help is the sense of embarrassment at the state of their homes, the thought of asking if they would be o.k. with me publishing before and after pics doesn’t feel right to me.
I encourage people to take ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures so they can see the transformation we’ve achieved and ask for testimonials as a way of inspiring and reassuring people that I can help them clear their clutter.
Do you clean the space as you go?
My focus is on decluttering your home and life. Usually my clients clean as we go. For example we’ll empty a cupboard and they’ll quickly clean the shelves. Or once a walk-in-robe is cleared they’ll vacuum and wipe it down before we organise it.
Can you recommend trusted & reliable trades & services?
Yes! Just let me know what you need. I have a comprehensive list of reliable and trustworthy trades and professionals that I recommend.
Are you insured?
Yes! I have the appropriate level of public liability insurance and full cover for the work I do. Certificate of currency is available on request.
What isn't covered in a Revamp Package?
- Structural repairs and maintenance—Decluttering may reveal issues that you need to hire a professional. I can recommend someone to help.
- Cleaning—If you need help with this, for example pre-listing, I can recommend a great service.
- Gardening and landscaping—My expertise is with interiors, not exteriors – again I’m happy to put you in touch with someone who will help.
- Painting—I love a fresh coat as much as the next person, but I don’t help with it.
- Photography and Video for Listing Your Property —I may take pictures for my website, but if you want beautiful photos of your home that’s something your real estate agent should help you with.
- Storage—I’ll help you implement storage solutions but I you’ll need to provide the items.
