I was feeling overwhelmed and miserable with the state of my home and decided it was time to do something about it. In two days Kerry helped me declutter my wardrobe, bedroom, family room, main living area and organise my laundry.
I searched for help, found Kerry’s website and phoned her to set up a time to meet. I nearly called and cancelled the morning she was coming. I was too embarrassed for her to see the clutter, and the mountain of washing. I am so glad I didn’t!
There were so many hot spots in the house, places where I would dump stuff and they would be there for days or longer. Although I thought the clutter had become invisible to me, I came to realise I always knew it was there. I’d got used to tuning it out because I didn’t know how to sort it all out.
One of the first things we did was put on a load of washing then we continued on decluttering. She took away 9 bags of clothes to donate, and I threw out 3 bags of rubbish.
With Kerry’s help I got to grips with my clutter. When we were done I couldn’t believe how much bigger the kitchen, dining and family area looked. The laundry now functions as a laundry and the clothes flow through it, rather than piling-up. The washing machine still washes, but it is at a manageable level. I keep on top of it by doing a load each day.
Everytime I am about to put something down I hear that voice in my head (Kerry) asking ‘does that really belong there?’ I’m not perfect yet, but I am so much better and so much happier.
Since Kerry and I worked on my clutter problem there have been quite a few changes in my home. I’ve learned to ask for help. I have three teenage boys and a husband who now lend a hand. It took a conversation between me, Kerry and my boys to learn what was going on. They were willing to help, but I wouldn’t let them because they didn’t do it the way I wanted. Now I ask them to help out, because I’ve realised I can’t keep on top of things without it.
I’m saving money, because I don’t buy clothes on a whim anymore, I can walk away. After going through my wardrobe and donating so many clothes I didn’t wear, I realised I had all the clothes I needed, they’d just been buried. I also discovered I had more than enough lotions and potions in my bathroom. I dont need to buy anymore of those either – more money saved there.
Thanks Kerry I’m so glad I made that phone call.
